- Nova Prepare GR is a pre-emergence herbicide used for controlling weeds in transplanted paddy (rice). It is a granular formulation that effectively targets grasses, broad leaved weeds, and sedges. The herbicide’s mode of action involves inhibiting the growth of weeds by interfering with their ability to synthesize the enzyme acetolactate synthase.
- Target Weeds: Various grasses (e.g., Echinochloa spp.), broad leaved weeds (e.g., Eclipta alba), and sedges (e.g., Cyperus spp.).
- Application: Broadcast uniformly over moist soil surface within 3 days after transplanting or 7 days after sowing.
- Mode of Action: Pretilachlor inhibits cell division in the hypocotyl, mesocotyl, and coleoptile of plants, while Pyrazosulfuron-ethyl inhibits branched-chain amino acid synthesis.
- Safety: Safe for the rice crop and does not cause phytotoxicity or residual effects on succeeding crops like chickpea and wheat.
